Shenji BBQ Restaurant

Everything was wonderful! I always went to the Happy****, but to be frank, every time I went there, I was very disappointed. So I was looking for a new place and I am so glad I did. The only disappointment was that we were too full to try any other food and there isn't a seating area for a larger group (hoping for seat 8~ 10). We were actually considering going back the very next day! Highly recommend!!

Great BBQ! Note that some of the reviews below are made in exchange of a free item so they may be biased. I noticed this when paying that you'd be asked to leave one. That being said -- my honest review: I enjoyed the skewers and the eggplant along with roasted cold noodle (liang pi). The eggplant was rich in oil and garlic, I highly recommend this dish if you don't like scallops. The skewer seasoning defaults were nice too, but a tad sweet for me. What can be improved - the pictured "grill" is more of a warming plate using tea candles. It doesn't get hot enough for even oil to sizzle. The grilling is done in the kitchen. Other places like 小酒馆 (tasty bbq & beer bar) in Richmond use solid fuel and flame to keep the grill warm enough for a sizzle. That being said, service is good and expect some wait.

It was our first time at Shenji BBQ Restaurant. All the food was marinated & seasoned well and delicious. Lots of different options available. Highly recommended!

Truly a hidden gem! The quality of the ingredients here is outstanding. Keep the food fresh ! You can tell they use great fire ! Everything had that beautiful smoky char. I especially love the fish cake and cucumber ! If you’re looking for authentic Chinese flavour ! this is the place to go. Five stars! For drinktooo !!!!

This is my go-to spot for BBQ — the food is always delicious and the staff are incredibly welcoming. Every time I drive from Seattle to Vancouver, I make a point to stop here again!
